Privacy Policy

1. Data we collect

We collect your mobile phone number (for OTP authentication), usage data (questions answered, accuracy, session duration), and device information (for push notifications). We do not collect government ID, financial information, or biometric data.

2. How we use your data

Your data is used to personalise your practice session, generate diagnostic reports, and (with Pro plan) share effort summaries with a linked parent. We do not use your data for advertising.

3. Data sharing

We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties except: our infrastructure providers (AWS, operating in India), our LLM providers for generating tutor responses (question text only, no PII), and MSG91 for OTP delivery.

4. Parent dashboard privacy

Parents linked to a student account can see: questions attempted per week, accuracy percentage, readiness score, and current focus areas (subtopic names). Parents cannot see: specific wrong answers, AI tutor chat history, or question text.

5. Your rights (DPDP Act 2023)

You have the right to access your data, correct inaccuracies, and request deletion. To exercise these rights, email privacy@studybetter.in. We will respond within 30 days.

6. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, practice history is deleted within 30 days and anonymised aggregate data may be retained for product improvement.

7. Minors

If you are under 18, we require verifiable parental consent before creating an account. Parents may request deletion of their child's data at any time.
